Similar Committees
There are two different staff councils at the University of Bonn: the Staff Council for Technical and Administrative Staff ('PR-TV') and the Staff Council for Academic Staff ('PR-Wiss'). As you can see from the names, the two PRs represent different groups of employees at the University of Bonn. WHF and WHK, i.e. student employees with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, are represented by the PR-Wiss. Student employees without a degree do not fall within its area of responsibility. The PR-Wiss and SHK Council therefore share responsibility for WHF and WHK.
As legally binding committees, they have more responsibilities and powers than the SHK Council, which is voluntary for the university (see "our competences" page).
Further information on the staff councils at the University of Bonn can be found on the website of the university!
The trade unions ver.di and GEW have jointly launched the TVStud initiative. Since 2021, this initiative has been campaigning nationwide for a collective agreement for student employees to be added to the collective agreement of the federal states (TdL). The impetus for this was, among other things, the study "Jung, akademisch, prekär", which examined the working conditions and economic situation of student employees and came to sobering conclusions. Unfortunately, no TV study was reached in the last round of collective bargaining at the end of 2023. However, an agreement under the law of obligations was reached, which at least slightly improves the pay of student assistants.
Further information on TV-Stud in general can be found on their homepage. The TV-Stud Bonn local group provides information about events etc. on its Instagram account, its Telegram group and its Signal group.
